WHAT IS BAY AREA KEI?

Bay Area Kei is an organization that focuses on creating events for the J-fashion community! We host both in-person and online events.

HOW DO I ATTEND AN ONLINE EVENT?

ā€‹

Our virtual events are free to attend and are held online across a few different online platforms. You can choose to participate in any number of ways, including shopping directly with our affiliated vendors, watching panels hosted on Twitch, and participating in virtual tea parties and event discussion on Discord. We also upload panels on YouTube if you cannot watch the livestream! Direct links are posted online during each event. Please follow our social media, server channels, and check our website for event updates!

ARE YOUR EVENTS EXCLUSIVE TO THOSE WHO LIVE IN THE BAY AREA OR CALIFORNIA?

Not at all! Our team is based in California - mostly the Bay Area, hence our namesake. Our events are available to all members of the J-fashion community.

HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT NEW EVENTS?

The best way to keep up to date with our announcements is by subscribing to our event newsletter and by following our social media! You can also find us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. You can also join our Discord for event announcements!

I’M A J-FASHION DESIGNER, ARTIST, OR STOCKIST AND AM INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN AN UPCOMING EVENT!

Thank you for your interest! All shop application forms are open-call and posted on the website prior to each event. Please email us directly at bayareakei@gmail.com if you would like to join our brand mailing list and be alerted of upcoming events to apply to. Brand selection for all events is a juried process, so please have examples of past work available for us to view. We reserve the right to reject applications at our discretion, for reasons such as, but not limited to: experience, quality, and relevance to our events. If you were turned down previously, please feel free to reapply to future events!

I WOULD LIKE TO HOST A PANEL FOR THE NEXT EVENT!

ā€‹

We love to bring in new faces and ideas to our dedicated J-fashion programing! We typically open applications for panelists around 1-2 months before an event, at which point you can apply via submission form. If you would like to contact us to pitch an idea before submitting an application, please email us at bayareakei@gmail.com. Please note that all panelist applications are juried on the basis of experience and how well the topic fits the event theme.

I’M IN ANOTHER ORGANIZATION AND WOULD LIKE TO COLLABORATE ON EVENTS!

We’re happy to work with other groups to expand the range of J-fashion programming and content that is available to our community! Please email us directly at bayareakei@gmail.com with information about your organization and your timelines. Please understand that depending on the timing and availability of our members, we may have to decline participating in an event, but are still happy to provide some resources and pointers on event planning.

HOW DO I VOLUNTEER WITH BAY AREA KEI?

CAN I INTERVIEW YOU, OR FEATURE YOUR EVENTS IN A BLOG OR NEWS POST?

Absolutely! You don’t need to contact us or ask permission before writing any blog posts, but feel free to email or tag us afterwards, since we would love to see the post when it goes up!
